A WAR torn Country South Sudan Requesting Help!

Diocese of Torit in South Sudan, subjected to recent tragic vilolence, is now feeding over 500 with the help of IHM

Hello Everyone:

Tradgedy seems to be the norm in our lives everyday these days especially for those living in the war torn country of South Sudan. Below is a plea for help to feed and protect over 500 people who went through an unprecedented nightmare. Currently IHM is helping with your donations

With a heavy heart, I write to humbly request your prayers for the Diocese of Torit and the community of Our Lady Assumption Loa Parish, which has been struck by a tragic act of violence. On Wednesday, 26th March 2025, at approximately 5:00 p.m., members of the South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF), stationed at the junction of Loa Parish—also known as Okadu Maria—stormed the parish grounds without prior notice. They opened fire, killing ten people, including two priests, and injuring five civilians. Among those affected are vulnerable individuals who sought refuge in our parish after being displaced by ongoing conflict.

This heartbreaking incident has left our community in deep sorrow and fear. We kindly ask that you remember us in your prayers, especially during the Holy Mass, that the Lord may grant eternal rest to the departed, healing to the wounded, and strength to those left in anguish. May He also touch the hearts of those responsible for these acts of violence and bring peace to our land.

We trust in the power of prayer and the mercy of God to see us through this trying time. Thank you for standing with us in faith.
