Dear Mr. Don Magnotta,
Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
I hope this message finds you in good health and high spirits.
I am writing to follow up on our communication from last year. At that time, you kindly expressed your willingness to support our mission financially. We were deeply encouraged by your generosity and concern for the people we serve. Since then, however, we have not had the opportunity to hear from you, and I sincerely hope everything has been well with you.
Today, I write with a humble and urgent appeal because our communities are facing a devastating humanitarian crisis.
A prolonged dry spell has severely affected Agago District in Northern Uganda, destroying crops and leaving many families without food or clean water. The hardest-hit villages are Ladere, Orina, Kuywee, Lukole, Olung Bwol, Laperebong, and Geregere, located within the Catholic parishes of Kalongo, Adilang, and Omiyo in the Archdiocese of Gulu.
The situation has become heartbreaking. Community leaders and health workers have reported that at least 15 people have died due to hunger, including 10 innocent children. In addition, approximately 350 residents urgently require treatment for severe malnutrition and other related health complications.
As servants of God, we cannot stand by while our brothers and sisters suffer. Families have exhausted every available source of food, and many children, elderly people, and vulnerable mothers now face each day without knowing where their next meal will come from.
We are therefore making an urgent appeal for financial assistance to provide:
- Emergency food supplies, including maize flour, beans, rice, and other basic necessities.
- Clean water and emergency water distribution.
- Nutritional support and medical treatment for severely malnourished children and adults.
- Transportation and outreach costs to deliver relief to the affected villages.
Mr. Don, I humbly ask whether you would be able to fulfill the kind promise you made to support our mission. Any assistance you can offer, no matter the amount, will make an immediate difference in saving lives and restoring hope to families who are suffering greatly.
Please also remember these communities in your prayers during this difficult time. Your compassion and generosity would be a great blessing to many people who have nowhere else to turn.
Thank you for taking the time to read this appeal and for your continued kindness. I look forward to hearing from you, and I pray that God abundantly blesses you and your loved ones for every act of generosity shown to those in need.
With sincere gratitude and prayers,
Sr. Victoria
